In order to make sure that this year’s winners will be reserving a special spot at home for their awards, it was decided that all trophies of the Tunafestival Maastricht 2011 will be custom made by a regional artist.

Veronique de Jong, a young and aspiring artist from Heerlen, was selected to craft these special prizes.  After having studied fine arts and graphical design in Maastricht and Gent (Belgium), she has become very active in the regional art scene and has been involved in various art projects as well as presented her expositions in cultural institutes and art galleries across Limburg and even the Netherlands.  This year she has received a nomination from the well respected Oranjefonds for one of her local art projects.
